Find Vertex Of Quadratic Functions

Having students memorize and plug numbers into -b/2a to find the x-coordinate of the vertex does not have much use. Its a formula that is rarely backed up by background concepts, and is quickly dismissed from students following an examination. 

I've decided to research this formula a bit further and here's a download an alternative lesson to a typical textbook.
